A perfect shed Lola!

This is Lola's beautiful shed skin. She sheds her skin every couple of months and it is called 'sloughing' (rhymes with 'chuffing'). This is because she is growing bigger all the time and outgrows her skin.
She rubs her face against the rocks in her cage to loosen it and then wriggles out of it. It looks a bit like a wet sock. Then you have to carefully unravel it and let it dry. It is important to check that the eyecaps (also called spectacles) have come off, they look a bit like swimming goggles! I am literally holding my breath until I find the eyecaps, then breathe a huge sigh of relief...Can you see her gorgeous coat pattern on the skin?
