Giant Mozambique Millipede
(Archispirostreptus gigas)

These are the absolute giants of the millipede world and are really impressive. They are a gentle vegetarian that trundles along the jungle floor looking for fruit and veggie things to eat. Their legs feel a bit like toothbrush bristles on your hand and it's quite tickley! Their back feels a bit like a shower hose when you stroke them. They don't actually have 1000 legs, it's more like 200 with 2 pairs on each segment.

Fascinating fact:  Their distant ancestors of 460 million years ago were the size of car. Probably a pretty harmless fruit-eating car but still...
