Leaf Insect

These particular leaf insects originate from the Philippines. They really do look like large leaves and are very beautiful close up. Their only defence is camouflage, so they either keep quite still on your hand or sway gently as if in a breeze.

Fascinating fact: they can regenerate a missing leg or antenna if they are young and still in their growing stage.
