Cuban False Chameleon
 (Anolis barbatus)

Picture
Colin is a young CFC. He's not really a chameleon but has a similar head and eyes (although he can't rotate them). He is from the anole family(the other name for him is a Western Bearded Anole) which often come in pretty colours but he has a tree bark camouflage so he is grey/brown.

He has sticky foot pads like a gecko plus long sharp claws. I can't ever imagine him falling off anything as he's so good at holding on. He likes to sit still in your hand and watch everything going on.  I have to hand feed him which takes up a lot of time, as he will take a bug then gaze around the room for 10 mins before crunching and swallowing. Meanwhile I'm all upset because I don't want the bugs to suffer a slow death..
Keeping lizards is not for the faint-hearted!

Fascinating fact: He's pretty friendly, although if you offend him he will flap his neck flap up and stick out his black tongue which looks very gothic and sinister. He usually calms down pretty quickly after that though.
