New Guinea Giant Spiny Stick Insect

These originate from Papua New Guinea, although they have been bred by specialist breeders in this country for many years. I have bred them myself, in the past.
Spiny stick insects are very large and impressive-looking; many children are nervous to hold them but soon get that real buzz when they conquer their fear! The wonderful thing about such large creatures is that you can see the detail with the naked eye rather than through a magnifying glass.
Fascinating fact: the males have some fearsome-looking spikes on their back legs, so we just handle the females and admire the males without touching them.
