I was lucky enough to catch this moment today. One of the largest males had just shed his skin and was hanging below it. It looks like a very pale onesie! He was eating it as it contains useful vitamins and nutrients. You can see the underside of his body in the middle of the picture. Just to confuse things, there is a small female head down on the stem as well.
The leaf insects met a Year 6 class today and they loved them! They were the perfect animal to use in a Science/English lesson on animal adaptation. The best writers of the lesson had a chance to hold them afterwards. The children were besotted...
